About ISTV
Message from the
International School Section Principal
Dear parents and guardians,
A very warm welcome to Torres Vedras International School (ISTV) section, set in 45.000m2 of beautiful natural surroundings.
I am delighted to be the founding Principal of the international section at TVIS, where we place importance on a balanced academic and vocational project-based education, aimed to develop soft transferable skills. We at TVIS nurture genuine continuous inquiry; a culture of respect, inclusion, and collaboration; proactive community service; and place emphasis on creativity and dexterity. These principles support our Vision Statement pillars of:
Nurturing smart heads, kind hearts, and dextrous hands.
Over the last two decades, I have worked with several international curriculums. So, selecting an international curriculum that is blended with local Portuguese flavour, has been the corner-stone of our mindset. We deliver the internationally acclaimed Cambridge Curriculum as framework for literacy and numeracy, blended with our unique art, craft, PE, and other vocational projects, which will be guided by highly qualified and inspiring teachers; resulting in our students to thrive in their academic and social lives.
This balanced academic, and project-based approach, complimented by our enviable co-curricular activities, will bring to life the theories from textbooks; through conceptual lenses; to create context for each student; at their own pace, in the area of their interest. I believe understanding and applying knowledge instils confidence and courage, to help our students thrive in an ever-changing dynamic global society.
I strongly believe in the primacy of student and staff wellbeing and highly value strong partnerships between our students, staff, parents, and the local community; underpinned by integrity and transparency.
As you browse our website and read our philosophy, you will gain insight into the unique educational experience we can offer your child/ren here at ISTV. I encourage you to contact our Enrolments Team and join us on a tour of our school, So, you and your child/ren can experience the classrooms and projects in action; meet other students, and our admin team.
We look forward to welcoming you to our school.

Our Mission
We aim to balance our curriculum so it is a fusion of academic and project-based education. It is aimed to develop soft transferable skills to extend attention span and it’s framed by Cambridge curriculum. This approach to education facilitates opportunities for students to apply their theories through the lenses of concepts; to contextualise and understand the application of their learning in the world around them.
We are committed to developing seven key skills
The ability to understand and connect with others; to show empathy
The ability to deal with challenges and overcome obstacles
The awareness of cultural diversity and equal opportunities
The ability to reflect and solve problems in innovative ways
The awareness of moral issues and strong ethical values
The ability to lead and motivate others to achieve common goals
The concern for the impact of human behaviour on the environment and society

Methodology
EITV aims to empower and inspire students towards a more sustainable and equitable world, where everyone can succeed to the best of their ability. Therefore, we implement the worldwide-recognised Cambridge International Curriculum dual program with Academica, the largest virtual educational organisation in the USA.
Our methodology and school culture create the best environment for socialization and personal development, student-centred learning environment that promotes student development through research and collaborative learning models, using state-of-the-art technology.
Our philosophy
We do not believe there is one philosophy of education better than the other, as we consider that this depends on various factors, namely personal, cultural and social values. We follow a holistic view of education that takes into account the needs and values of our students and their families.
We believe knowledge emerges from the interaction between the individual and the environment, based on rigorous academic standards and various inspiring extracurricular activities. Therefore, we emphasise the importance of research, project work and collaborative learning, and state-of-the-art technology in the teaching and learning process. We also focus on attitudes and behavior fostering the development of responsible global citizens who are willing to help and cooperate with others.
